Society of Nepalese Engineers in UK (SONEUK) has successfully completed its second Webinar of 2025 on Sat 1st March 2025. The webinar series 02 titled “Water Resources, Use of Underground Spaces and Interbasin Water Transfer Projects in Nepal” was presented by Er. Mitra Baral who is Joint Secretary at Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation with additional duty of Executive Director of Pancheswor Development Authority. He is a past Project Director at Sunkoshi-Marin Diversion Multipurpose Project, and past Project Chief at Bagmati Irrigation Project, Mahakali River Training Project, and Water Resources Project Preparatory Facility. He has been awarded with 5 prestigious awards of national and international significances including Public Service Awards, Best Project of the 2023, Civil Service Awards, and many others.
The webinar is about exploring Nepal’s water resources and Inter-basin water transfer, focusing on underground space utilisation opportunities and challenges faced by this mega project. The speaker also provides valuable information on TBM-completed tunnel work and other key interesting facts and considerations of the Sunkoshi Marin Diversion Multipurpose Project, Sindhuli, Nepal sharing his own experiences.
